It is an amazing and vitally important issue- that of “grounding” with the earth. Walking barefoot (or with leather bottom footwear) on bare ground, grass, or sand (beach), has major health benefits.
Free negatively charged electrons are transferred from the earth into our bodies. This grounding effect is one of the most potent anti-oxidants we know of. Anti-oxidant activity protects us from oxidization, which is the break-down and aging of our bodies. The earth is struck by lightening thousands of times each minute, primarily around the equator. Subsequently the earth carries an enormous negative ion charge (which is powerfully beneficial). It is always electron rich and can serve as a powerful and abundant supply of anti-oxidant free radical killing electrons.
Inflammation thrives when our blood is thick, when there is lots of free radical stress (precursor to disease and cancer), and when positively charged ions dominate our system. Grounding effectively alleviates inflammation because it thins the blood and infuses us with beneficial negatively charged ions through the soles of our feet. This is incredibly important. Thickness of the blood due to poor diet, excess sugar and bad fats, emotional stress, and toxic electro-magnetic forces causes inflammation and poor oxygenization of our cells. This leads to disease – heart disease, stokes, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis and others.
Animal experiments have shown that un-grounded rats had higher blood sugar compared to their grounded counterparts, despite their being fed identical diets. If disconnecting with the earth disrupts normal sugar metabolism, we may have identified yet another contributing cause to the dramatic increase of diabetes in the U .S.
Grounding causes an increase in the thinning of the blood by improving its zeta potential. This means it improves the energy between the red blood cells, thereby increasing oxygenization and protecting against disease. Grounding actually increases zeta potential by an average of 280%! Research has shown that it takes about 80 minutes for the free electrons from the earth to reach the blood stream and transform the blood.
Grounding can also ameliorate the constant assault of electro-magnetic fields and other types of radiation from cell phones, computers and Wifi.
The trend and style of the past few decades is wearing rubber bottom foot wear which insulates and blocks the transfer of the electrons from the earth.
There should be a finely tuned working energetic relationship between our earth and our bodies. When we contact the earth (not wearing rubber bottom footwear) we accomplish this bond.
So spend some time as often as you can walk or standing on the ground, on the grass, or going to a beach. Even while sitting outdoors reading or learning take off your shoes and bond with our earth. It is very healing!
